Krissy Altenburg

Krissy’s passion for horses began under the tutelage of her aunt, renowned Equestrian, Susan Spencer. Growing up, she was involved in running various farms with her Aunt in the New York area. As a rider, Krissy progressed well, initially, working with Jennifer Alfano at SBS Farms. From there she was selected to show and train with Karen Donckers internationally. Upon her return she became a part of the team at Market Street working for Anne Kursinski. This opportunity got her back on the international level as she managed the horses for Anne at the 2005 FEI World Games.

This experience gave Krissy the opportunity to ride professionally and augment it with teaching on the side. It was this experience that developed her passion for teaching/training. In 2009 she created Old Hill Farm LLC, to allow her to train, teach and show for all levels. Since the summer of 2012 OHF has been operating out of Laguna Farm.

Krissy’s philosophy on the riding experience

I have a true passion to teach both horse and rider. I feel so blessed to be a part of this amazing process regardless of the students skill level. I believe that both horse and rider learn and respond better in a calm and safe environment. Horses are sensitive and smart animals that deserve respect and loving care inside and outside the ring. I have been successful in taking clients from the beginner ring to winning “AA” shows. I love all parts of the process from teaching the fundamentals of correct position to good care in preparing the horse before and after we ride. Team work is very important in this sport and finding the right horse rider combo is essential. My program offers a safe and friendly environment where all levels of horse and rider are treated equal.”
